Dear District 39 Community,

Here are some D39 updates:

New Board Members

On April 4th, our community elected four people to the D39 Board of Education. Mark Steen returns for a second term, and Jon Cesaretti, Lisa Schneider-Fabes, and Ellen Sternweiler will be joining for their first terms. All four will be sworn in at the April 25th Board meeting. At that meeting, we will also say a grateful goodbye to Kimberly Alcantara, John Flanagin, and Cindy Levine who have all served for eight years.

Harper School is 75

On Wednesday, May 24th, Harper School will celebrate its 75th birthday and the community is invited to share the fun. This exciting event will take place at Harper from 6:30–8:00 pm. and you can get all the details at http://harperpto.com/harper-turns-75/.

Educational Foundation - 10 Everyday Heroes

In celebration of 10 years of Distinguished Citizen Awards, this year the Foundation is honoring 10 Everyday Heroes on April 27th. They are custodians, cooks, crossing guards, secretaries, nurses, and teachers who make a huge difference to our students, parents, and schools. Express Bus

The express bus pilot for HMS students heading home to the Central School area has been a big success. For next year, the express bus will continue from HMS to Central, and we are exploring the possibility of expanding to round trip. In addition, we hope to add the McKenzie area and to include WJHS students. We will keep you informed.
