Planning for the 2020-2021 School Year

As District 39 plans for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, school leaders and committee members will abide by the following principles and commitments:
  • The health and safety of students and staff is a priority.
  • Flexible and adaptable instructional models must be developed to provide consistency and the ability to respond without interruption.
  • Manageable, meaningful and sustainable teaching and learning are critical to our ongoing success.
  • Targeted and connected learning is our goal.

District 39 Administrators will rely on scientific research, community feedback and guidance from state health and education officials while planning a return to instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. The planning process is as follows:

  1. District 39 Administrators will determine a strategy for a return to in-person instruction while adhering to guidelines and suggestions from state health and education officials.

  2. The District 39 Transition to In-Person Learning Committee will review the district’s general return-to-in-person learning strategy. The Committee will assist in planning for  implementation logistics and considerations.

  3. The Advisory Task Force will provide the Transition to In-Person Learning Committee with additional insight and perspective to consider.

  4. The District 39 Administration will review Committee recommendations and create a flexible and adaptable plan for the return to in-person instruction.

  5. Updates will be provided to staff, parents and community members on July 17, July 24 and July 31.
