Romona Rocks!
KindnessDuring the months of February and March, our focus will be on "K"indness. We will work regularly at school to demonstrate kindness to each other, to adults and within our school community. In addition, we are taking it a step further and engaging in a service learning project that involves developing an understanding for people in need of food. Romona students will be engaging in a project to share information about hunger within the Chicago-land area and collect food to assist in stocking the food pantry for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. During the next several weeks, students will be participating in and asked to do the following:
This project will be added to our list of events/projects that we are doing this year to support our understanding and learning of Respect Originality Courage Kindness and Sincerity. While student participation in the collection of food items is completely optional, we hope you will support and encourage this demonstration of kindness to those in need in our community. Character Education
At Romona we believe that our students need to understand and demonstrate the skills necessary to be a responsible, productive citizen in the 21st Century. Romona R.O.C.K.S is a newly developed approach by parents and teachers to promote the character traits important to our school community. It is through these activities, lessons, and celebrations that we hope to promote positive peer interactions and awareness so that students are available for learning at school and within our community.
