Greetings District 39 Families!

The start of school is fast approaching! Below you will find dates and schedules for the opening of school.

Families receive an email with class assignments/schedules for all registered students on Tuesday, August 21st. Class assignments will not be sent unless students are registered by then. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder. In the event you do not receive the email by that evening, please contact your school office on Wednesday, August 22nd.

The 2018-19 District Handbook will be posted online and provides important information about school policies and procedures, special programs, student records, and report cards/progress reports. Hard copies of the handbook can be requested at each school.

First Day of Class

Grades 1-8

Bus transportation begins on Thursday, August 30th, and students in grades 1-8 attend an instructional half day of classes. School hours for that day are:

                        Grades 1-4              8:35 a.m. – 11:55 a.m.

                        Grades 5-6              8:50 a.m. – 11:46 a.m.

                        Grades 7-8              8:25 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.

Your child’s timely arrival at school is important so that instructional activities can begin promptly. Due to the volume of parents who accompany students to school the first day, parking will be difficult at all of our buildings. Please consider walking with your children if they are not riding the bus or otherwise getting to school on their own.

Kindergarten and Early Childhood

Our elementary buildings structure a special attendance schedule for the first day of kindergarten and early childhood. Parents should check the school website for the schedule after receiving their child’s teacher assignment email on August 21st. In addition, please note that kindergarten/early childhood bus transportation begins on Friday, August 31.

Cafeteria Service

Cafeteria service will begin on Friday, August 31st for all students in grades 1-8. The cost of lunch will be $3.60 for grades 1-6 and $3.95 for grades 7-8. Milk will cost $.35.

I’m looking forward to a great 2018-19 school year. You will hear from me again soon!
