Dear District 39 Families,

We hope you and your children enjoyed a wonderful week of school this week, and your new year is off to a good start. Below is our D39 Metrics Team update for this week as well as a few other updates for families.

Metrics Team Update

Our District 39 Metrics Reopening Advisory Team hosts regular meetings to study important school-relevant metrics of COVID-19 and the District’s health and safety protocol. This morning, the Metrics Team reviewed the most recent D39 Metrics Dashboard and full report. This morning, thee Metrics Team discussed COVID-19 screening as well as important internal and external metrics. Below are some of the important topics discussed by the Metrics Team.

  • All in-person students are strongly encouraged to register to participate in D39’s SafeGuard Screening program. Please take a moment to complete this COVID-19 Screening Registration Form. Screening testing contributes to the health of our schools, our staff, our students, and our communities.
  • The district has successfully resumed in-person instruction and looks forward to continuing with its regular schedule of in-person opportunities for students while also maintaining its fully remote program for those who have selected this programming option.
  • The team has streamlined the metrics report and dashboard to focus on the most relevant data for the Team’s ongoing review and consideration. The report is more simplified and easier to review.
  • The Metrics Team will transition to bi-monthly meetings moving forward.

Reminders for Healthy Habits and School Expectations

The following help to keep us healthy and well.

  • Wear a snugly fitting mask –Wearing a clean, snugly fitting mask that does not require frequent adjustment helps students to remain focused on learning while also helping to maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for all.
  • Review and practice six-feet distancing – Maintaining six feet of distance between people helps to reduce the risks of virus spread and quarantines.
  • Handwashing – Handwashing and hand sanitizing are also important ways to mitigate risk.
  • Daily symptom checks – Monitoring health symptoms and staying home when an ill, exposed or after travel are important ways to help keep everyone healthy and safe. Please print and carefully review daily the updated D39 health self-certification ticket.
  • Response to Illness Booklet - Our District 39 Response to Illness Booklet has been updated with new information from the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) regarding response to illness, quarantines and COVID-19 testing. Please review these important updates.

Spring Break

District 39 will be on Spring Break as scheduled from March 29 through April 2. School will resume on Monday, April 5, and the District is currently planning for in-person instruction to resume, as planned, on Monday, April 5th. We will continue to closely monitor updates from the Cook County Department of Public Health and encourage all families to review the CCDPH travel guidance if you are considering travel. Currently, the CCDPH recommends avoiding all non-essential travel.

Fully Remote Parent Webinar

We will be hosting a parent webinar for parents participating in our Fully Remote Learning Program for second semester on Wednesday, January 20th at 7:00 pm.
